I do not like wearing black in the winter – because it’s already such a gloomy season. I strongly believed that Christmas lights are being put up to deceive us – to make us think that this is a season to have fun – that the cold is alright. But it’s not alright – and I suspect that many wear dark colors because they can’t get enough warm – and really don’t care whatever color the clothing are – they just want to be really warm in the cold winter weather. But winter need not be about frumpy dressing – but it also means that you need to pay for color and a good kind of material of the clothing you buy. I buy the insulated T-Max brand of winter clothing – not only because they are thin – but they can really keep one warm.

I have to chuckle when my friends who are coming to see the snow think that what they got for keeping warm when they are in Canada is good enough. Let me share a secret with you – if you really want to get good winter clothing to keep you warm – make sure you buy them in Canada or in United States where it is really cold – else you can never get the right thing anywhere else. Every Winter I try to put in more color into my wardrobe and this year I’m dressing up my wardrobe again with a different color. Red perhaps this year?

I never had dry skin till I migrated to Canada and since living here, once the weather turns cold, my skin suffers big time. It gets really dry and sometimes it cracks, you should see my spouse’s hand they are worst than mine – he could literally give you a scrub with his hands. I’ve used several types of skin care products to combat my dry skin and they do help but not too much till I found that shea butter works like a charm on my skin. Not only do they work, they smell awesome and it makes my skin feels like I just bathed in something creamy and rich. I also loved that I don’t have to wear a perfume after using shea butter body cream because they worked as a perfume scent on me. But men can use shea butter too – because it smells like a nutty kinda smell – so don’t worry about recommending it to your spouses or your boyfriends. Now I can look forward to winter without worry about cracked skin or ugly looking ones.

I love handmade stuff – and this shoe is one of them – made of leather and fit to the tee. Simple, pretty and made of leather – I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it. A wee bit expensive – over $200 – from Etsy – but when you walk as much as I do for shopping – this has got to be the shoe for shopaholic like myself.

The best gift anyone can give me right now – is a sturdy umbrella! it had been raining cats and dogs in Toronto for a few days now – and I just dislike having to coupe up in the hotel and can’t go out and shop or eat and enjoy Toronto. The concierge loaned me an umbrella – but I didn’t even get to the street – when the umbrella went inside out! darn! So as soon as the rain lighten up – I’m going out to get myself a sturdy umbrella – I don’t care how it looks – I just want one – that I can use to keep myself somewhat dry – and not leave me in an embarrassed state.

We were in New York city a fortnight ago – when the spouse had a meeting with a client there – I tagged along of course and saw someone shooting this gal on the street. I don’t know if she was a model or not – but there was no crew there – so out of curiosity I took a picture of her too. I admired her casualness – her proper dressing – because the town i lived in – you will never see gals with this kind of fashion sense – and those that has got some fashion sense – will not be hanging around town.
While I pride myself – for dressing up the minute I get up – I am very disappointed to see girls of all ages in this town – wearing PJs to the shopping mall. Sometimes, I want to go up and ask them – if they don’t pride themselves at all? or they just feel that they look that gorgeous even in a PJ in a mall. I hope my kids will never behave this wear – for dressing up – is not only essential – its a form of respecting yourself.

Shopping is not how I define my downtime – nor is doing exercises – hahah! I’m unfortunately, the “different” kind – whereby downtime is not spent with the spouse nor the children. My downtime is for me alone and I’m quite selfish about it. I think I’ve learned the art of my alone time – meaning really alone – going to a spa – and not even talking to the masseuse – I like to go into my own world during my alone time. And if I want to go for a drink – it has to be with my best girlfriends and not with my spouse. Yes, defining my downtime is just exactly that and everyone needs their downtime every now and then if not more.

Clic H Narrow Bracelet Orange Enamel – don’t you love it that your best friend would buy something that she knows you would like and gives it to you as a gift just because. I wouldn’t have been so generous as my best friend – so I do cherish this friend of mine very much. Some people asked if it was because she is so rich – that’s why we’ve become good friends for so long but truth be told – I think she had always been there for me – thru’ good times and the bad. She never tell me her troubles nor frustration with work – but I always do with mine. She is always good to my kids and constantly showering them with gifts and vacation money.
So what did I do to deserve such a good friend everyone asked – I think it’s karma – when you do good things to others – all good things comes back to you. Some people might not believe it – but when you meet my best friend – that’s the only explanation I can give to anyone.

I went shopping with a friend from the days when we were in college together today and while we were shopping, she told me that this was in fashion and not that – I was amused. At our age, does she really think that I would dress in fashion or dress what suits me best for the different occasion? Since I’ve been traveling a lot with the spouse this year, my fashion is mostly jeans and comfortable blouse and then some jacket if the weather was cold and simple jewelry. Unlike when I was younger, I needed everything to match, from my earrings to my handbags and shoes – those were the days that I wouldn’t bling an eyelid to spend 100s of dollars on just a dress or even a swimsuit but not anymore.
In fashion is so overstated, and like most woman my age, we dress up of course and keep up to date with our hair style, our highlights, our nail colors but mostly we go for the maintenance. Along, the years, I’ve collected so many shoes, so many dresses, so many skirts – I cannot imagine going out to buy more clothing just because they are in fashion, I buy only when it is necessary and when I really am in need of something.
So as I went along and nod my head with my girlfriend and watch her swipe her cards again and again for the last 3 hrs and finally plopping onto the cafe seat satisfied, I’m sure the spouse would be glad that I’m not her – haha! My grandmother used to say – that if your clothing are cleaned and ironed that’s what matters most.

I loved looking pretty and loved unique dressing – a bit of fashion sense is good for any woman – so my mother said when I was a kid. And even though this dress was a bit expensive – I found it on Etsy – i decided to buy it nevertheless – it can be use for casual wear and I can wear it for a cocktail or wine tasting. Love how pretty this dress look.

So I was at Barney’s in New York recently – the one at East Oak – because our hotel was nearby and of course I went crazy about the handbags, I just had to get some. But like most of us we can’t afford to buy all that we want – well unless you are like my friend who has a husband who is a lawyer – and a darn good one.
So when I came back with my handbag loot – someone asked me why I don’t get some good replicas that she is familiar with. I thought about it and was tempted since it was a fraction of what i paid for the genuine ones. But ultimately, I didn’t because I can’t bear to buy a replica or an imitation, if I can’t afford it – I rather not get a replica one – it’s just not me. So my friends now calls me a handbag snob. I have nothing against those who wants to get a replica – but as for me, I rather not because no matter how good the work or material may b e – an imitation bag is still an imitation bag and I cannot seems to get over that idea or over it myself. So yes, I’m a handbag snob.
