Earlier this year, I decided to join the home and school committee since this is the last year of Junior school for my daughter – it’s my way of giving back to the school for helping all my kids go through all their learning years with ease. Having said that, I also have another selfish reason because everytime I read the minutes that the home and school have – I cannot help but wonder why certain things are done the way it was especially when it comes to buying things with the funds collected from various fund raising by the students over the years. So this year, when they needed sport trophies to me made – I decided that I would volunteer and look for a supplier that can offer quick, good and inexpensive services. So wish me luck and help me prove to them that it really doesn’t take that long for stuff to arrive after it had been ordered and paid for.

We were in New York city a fortnight ago – when the spouse had a meeting with a client there – I tagged along of course and saw someone shooting this gal on the street. I don’t know if she was a model or not – but there was no crew there – so out of curiosity I took a picture of her too. I admired her casualness – her proper dressing – because the town i lived in – you will never see gals with this kind of fashion sense – and those that has got some fashion sense – will not be hanging around town.
While I pride myself – for dressing up the minute I get up – I am very disappointed to see girls of all ages in this town – wearing PJs to the shopping mall. Sometimes, I want to go up and ask them – if they don’t pride themselves at all? or they just feel that they look that gorgeous even in a PJ in a mall. I hope my kids will never behave this wear – for dressing up – is not only essential – its a form of respecting yourself.

I love the smell of lilies – they make the house smell so nice and it’s so refreshing just to have lilies at home. The spouse who never know that I love lilies more than roses – so when a long time friend from San Fransisco sent flowers thru’ flowers online during my birthday – he was surprised that it was lilies instead of roses or tulips that he likes to send. But having said that he always sends flowers even when he is not in town and working overseas. He always said thank God for the internet – else he would be in big trouble because he usually forgets till the last minute but with being able to order one’s flowers online – you can even request for an emergency delivery and most of these online places are really good in doing wonders. So there – I love lilies if you don’t know by now.

While I loved the raw oysters from Canada – I also loved Oysters omelet from home and really – nothing beats having some in the evening for dinner. So since I can’t find any here – I decided to get some fresh oysters from the Farmer’s Market and fry some on my own – I mean – it’s just omelet with oysters right? But not really – I soon realized because you need some kind of flour to go with the omelet and then you also need the right kind of chilli sauce. When we were on a trip to Toronto last week – the spouse brought me to Markham to try some and they were awesome. And since I don’t get it often – I had been eating this for a week – so now I am seriously bloated and had put on weight – so I’m looking apidexin for weight loss that a friend had recommended.

Normally, this is the way I loved to eat oysters – and I can eat at least 10 of them in a buffet.

What I wouldn’t give to have a bowl of noodles from home and in a hawker center. Seriously, if you had asked me 25 years ago – I would tell you I won’t miss a bowl of hawker center noodles from Tsim Sha Tsui but today in this cold winter morning – I could use some of this for breakfast. Noodles are the staple food for us Asian – my kids eat lots of it – even more than rice. But a bowl of Chinese noodles like this one – is the ultimate taste of Chinese cooking and even though my mom used to say not to drink the soup because they are full of MSG – I wouldn’t mind drinking them now.

I’m a very happy girl – this was in my office – when i went into work for a meeting – I wasn’t expecting it – since the spouse was away for work – but I was truly touched and surprised. How sweet is he ? after being married for 26 years and he is still so romantic. I married my best friend – thank you God!

I had an earlier Valentine celebration because the spouse was heading to California tomorrow for work – so he won’t be around during Valentine’s day. We brought our kids with us for the celebration of course and this was what the kids gave us for Valentine’s day. So cute!

We had dry-aged grass-fed ribeye from Whole Foods, with a big red from Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Then imagine a background music of Sumi Jo singing Ave Maria from Giulio Caccini.

The spouse and I had the pleasure of being invited to a dinner with some celebrity chef from Australia – at Tatsu – in Vancouver. I wouldn’t be paying $150 per pax had it not been a company’s dinner with some client of the spouse. I have to say – I’m really impressed with the dish – a Blue Fin Tuna Sashimi with Avocado. The tuna melted in my mouth – and I was only able to take one picture – as I didn’t want to embarrass the spouse.

The asparagas season is here and the family and I cannot wait to get making some wicked creation with them. I saw a bunch of it on sale at our local supermarket and picked some out. We love them plain with some salt and butter or if we feel fancy, we wrap some bacon around them and BBQ them. The wife loves them with Hollandaise sauce and it’s easy to make them yourself at home. The wife being an asian loves any kind of vegetables, so you can imagine how happy she was to see the aparagas season with cheap aparagas to buy. The white ones, she loves them too.

I asked for cheese fries and they gave me this at KFC – oh well, might as well try it right – it came with a combo that we bought for the family. The wife wanted to try the ribs and so I bought some chicken to eat with this. The sour cream and the meat and tomato is really not my thing, couldn’t stomach it. Next time, I know to be sure to check before leaving KFC.
