For someone who is as adventurous as I am – and who claimed that she would try everything once – I cannot bring myself to eat Rappie pie . Rappie pie is said to be the most significant Nova Scotian food – but yet – I can’t get over the mushiness of it – and the feel of it. It’s made out of potatoes and some meat – chicken or ham perhaps – but it’s the gooeyness of the pie – that makes me not want to try it. I’ve been in Canada for a long time – and people cannot believed that I won’t try Rappie pie. Crazy much?
We were invited to our niece’s birthday – and it’s not just any birthday – it was a themed party birthday – where all the little friends dressed up in their favorite fairy tale fashion. We knew that the little girl was going to get all sorts of toys for her birthday so we decided to get her something useful instead – something she can use for a long, long time – a step stool !! yes – not just an ordinary step stool but a colorful one that she can use for storage or a chair when she is tired. She said she loved it so very much – when she opened her presents on the weekend. We got her a swan lake step stool that was painted in pink and green – a lot of pink – and she loved it so much – we are very proud of her – because she knew it was a step stool immediately and told her parents that they no longer had to help her to wash her hands – because she can use the step stool to help her turn on and off the taps. – Too cute or what!
So we all heard about Bin Laden’s death over the news – and the spouse who is currently in New York for work – also called to let us know that he will be heading home as soon as he ties up things on the business front. Why the early departure? he was afraid that he might be in the wrong place at the wrong time – because he said you don’t know how crazy people can get – when they want to retaliate against the US. I really never thought about it that way when I first heard of the news – and it had been 10 years since the 9/11 World Trade Center bizarre & senseless attack on American soil. So those traveling around US for work, pleasure or business – do be careful – you never know what these crazy “God’s Soldiers” may do.
The spouse who is currently in Indonesia for work – visited my favorite munchie store – and tried some of my favorite munchie that I loved when I am in Indonesia.
I loved the ones with the gula melaka in it and not the coconut ones – but you could have the ones with peanuts too – if you wished. These are really yummy and light – and anyone would love it – because they melt in your mouth. I remembered my mom buying them for us after going to church every Saturday.
The son goes to college this year after summer for his it degree and he had actually taken a break for a year – to work so that he can buy a car to zip around college. While waiting table and working at Wendy’s – 2 jobs – he knows exactly what he wants to do for his future and he had everything planned out. When he wanted to take the year off – the spouse and I was quite worried that he might get distracted and not finish his scuhool – but I guess not – we were worried for nothing. I’m glad he is sticking to his IT degree and wants to finish it in a few years and get a IT job. Yes, he loves everything to do with IT and he had been this way since young. We will be out looking for a car for him soon – and as much as I don’t want him to be driving so young – I guess I shouldn’t worry to and learn to let go – after all, the kid is a young man now with a girlfriend.
Want some awesome dessert while you are in California – try 85C ! and don’t get daunted by the long line of people waiting for their turn – because the staff were pretty fast and we got to the dessert counter in a jiffy. Everything is made fresh I heard and they sell fast – and not once have I been there – and haven’t seen a line up. To some people it’s crazy and not worth the wait – but if you have tasted their coffee cake – you wouldn’t say the same. Oh and don’t forget to try the mushroom cheese bread – absolutely yummy !
The spouse had an early company dinner at the head office – so we had to fly to United States for the dinner – Dept Head – so he had to show face. You’ve gotta love the American’s dessert – this was not the only one during the Company’s dinner – but I only managed to snap one – because the spouse frown on me snapping pictures during any company’s function. Yes! the Americans sure loved their desserts and they sure love to make you feel at home. Lots of hugging and shaking hands for a few hours later – I was exhausted and can’t wait to head back tot he hotel.
I didn’t know that KFC had waffles for breakfast – but the spouse who was in Chicago last week – had this in his beach house apartment that the company rented for him. It’s funny to see him try and get some sun – while eating his breakfast – he said it wasn’t that fun. I can see why – I feel extremely bad for him – but what can we do right? work has to be done and he had to travel without us.
The girlfriend asked if I was obsessed with the cupcakes or just pretty things, I opted for the pretty things. How can one not love these cupcakes from The Cupcake Bakery right.
I wasn’t the only obsessed as you can see – but whether the co-worker was obsessed with pretty things or cupcakes, your guess is as good as mine. Did she have all of them.. ?? yes she did..!
Was i disappointed like some told me.. on their return ..?? nah.. it was pretty nice.. i liked the new store at The QVB better, because it is just too cute the store. The huge menu as you can see there .. makes it all too easy to choose all of them. The price is like more designer cupcakes at $3.50Aud – they looked good and tasted fine by me – lots of icing.. and i know my kid would love it.
